The freedom of a buffer

On this Independence day, I want to talk about freedom. In my case, about the freedom that having a buffer gives me.

As I am writing this, on May 27th 2014, I have 23 scheduled chapters in my Queue, and my next empty day is, well, today! July 4th!

Of course, I have no way to know in advance what my queue will look like by the time this blog is displayed, but I feel so much Freedom now that I am not publishing on a day to day basis.

For example, I wrote 2 chapters of Sam almost back to back, even if they were scheduled 2 weeks from each other.

I wrote a chapter of Lizzie (#27)  in which she followed some leads from the previous chapter (#26) when it was not even about to be published, so that if I realized I needed to make a change to the story, I could!

It also means that when I am stuck with a chapter, I can relax and spend time to think about it.

Last Saturday morning, I wrote three chapters back to back with my inspiration flowing, but had not written anything in the previous two days.

If I had published on a day to day basis, I would have missed some days, but with a buffer, it didn’t show.
